Alopecia Areata is a condition wherein patients notice sudden hair loss that starts with one or more circular bald patches over the scalp. In alopecia areata, the immune cells of the body attack the hair follicles, leading them to temporarily stop producing new hair. The main cause of this problem is stress, which could either be physical or psychological.
